Diabetes and Low Vision Rehabilitation (COPE Pending 1 Hour) This course will provide an overview of Diabetes and the common ocular effects associated. It provides an overview of the the visually impaired population and its projected growth, including a brief overview of common diabetic sequelae that lead to visual impairment. It will explore new technologies including Apps and wearable devices. This course emphasizes new technology, research and provides understanding of the intersection of Diabetes and vision impairment and highlight that providers have tools at their disposal to improve the quality of life of visually impaired patients.
What Low Vision Resources Are Available For You and Your Patients? (COPE Pending 1 Hour) This course will evaluate resources that are easily accessible by eye care providers. It will provide information on pertinent resources for low vision patients and provides guidelines on building a network and list of resources that are readily available when needed. In addition, the course will discuss options for genetic testing at no cos, driving and transportation options and resources available within an educational setting.
