Welcome

The Connecticut Association of Optometrists is dedicated to ensuring that the people of our state have access to high quality, efficient eye care in order to lead healthy and productive lives. Toward this end, it is a part of our mission to provide legislators and elected officials with accurate, up-to-date information about eye care so that they may make the best decisions possible for the people of Connecticut.
Since a vast majority of individuals in our state call an optometrist their "family eye doctor," we feel it is important that elected officials understand who we are and what we do. In addition, there is frequent legislation dealing with our children's vision and with eye disease that impact everyone, thus we have links to those areas of our site.
See "Serving the Community" for information for your constituents regarding Vision USA™, our free complete eye health and vision examination program that Connecticut optometrists are providing at no fee for low income adults, and InfantSEE™, a program in which member optometrists will provide all infants with a comprehensive infant eye assessment within the first year of life as a no cost public health service. Finally, we have included a Current Legislation section that outlines timely legislation we feel is critical toward our mission of providing the best, most cost efficient and accessible health care possible for our citizens.
